Welcome!

The Kohlmeier lab is part of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Memphis in Tennessee, USA. We are interested in the epigenetic, transcriptomic, neurogenetic, and physiological mechanisms that regulate plastic behavior and in understanding, how these mechanisms could have evolved. For this, we use a variety of model organisms, in particular social hymenopterans and the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, and integrate different experimental approaches including field studies, behavioral experiments, RNA-sequencing, neurophysiology, the neurogenetic toolbox of D. melanogaster, and many more.

Feel free to get in touch if you have questions or want to join our lab.
